Many “cosmetic surgeons” are eye doctors, family practitioners, or other specialists not certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Here’s how you can find out if the plastic surgeon you’re considering is qualified to perform your surgery: Ask the right questions. If you ask, “Are you board-certified?”, a cosmetic surgeon will say yes. After all, there are many “boards”; but some are merely dues-paying or pseudo-certifying boards.

Tans Fade, Tiny Bloodvessels Show - What can you do about it?

Print E-mail

Now that autumn seems to be officially upon us many of our patients notice that, as their tans fade, notice that they have splotchy pigmented areas, tiny visible blood vessels, or a rough texture to their skin.

The ideal way to correct or improve these problems is Intense Pulsed Light - IPL.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a breakthrough technology that can correct a variety of skin conditions, such as facial skin imperfections, signs of sun damage, birthmarks, unwanted hair, unsightly small veins, and other blemishes. It offers a safe, non-invasive solution that can be tailored to each individuals condition and skin type, thereby providing superior cosmetic results and outstanding satisfaction. This process is called photorejuvenation.

A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and your eyes will be protected from the bright light by small goggles. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. Discomfort is minimal and sometimes non-existent.You may feel a slight sting, like the snapping of a small rubber band.An anesthetic cream may be used, but is seldom required.Various wavelengths of light are selected based on the condition being treated. This targets individual problems more accurately which produces better resolution with minimal to no side effects.

For some conditions only a single treatment is necessary. For others, treatments are generally administered in a series of 3 to 6 sessions that provide excellent long-term results, minimal adverse effects and a high degree of satisfaction. Each treatment takes about twenty minutes.

You can return to work the same day and resume all of your regular activities (except sun exposure in some instances).By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk and, it preserves the wonderful "no down time" feature that patients appreciate so much.

As a follow-up to our last e-newsletter, we would like to show you an example of what a great difference Juvederm - our most popular facial filler - can make for ladies wanting fuller and thicker lips:
