Body Lifts Following Massive Weight Loss |

Individuals who have undergone massive or significant weight
loss often desire procedures to correct looseness of skin in the arms, thighs
and other areas, as well as requesting many of the procedures already
described. The most common areas of concern are the backs of the arms and the
inner thighs. Both areas can be significantly improved with lifting
procedures.
These procedures accomplish what no amount of exercise, or
spot training can achieve. It must be understood that while these procedures
can achieve dramatic results, that nothing can totally reverse the effects of
massive weight loss on the skin.
The arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes excess skin and
tightens the back of the arm. Most of the time the scar resulting from this
operation can be hidden on the inner aspect of the arm, so that it is not
visible with the arms in a resting position.
The inner thigh lift tightens the skin and removes excess
tissue in this area. The majority of the time the scar is placed in the groin
and very high up in the crease of the leg. If the skin is extremely loose, an
additional scar will be necessary along the inner aspect of the thigh. Virtually
everyone feels that the scars are worthwhile tradeoffs for the quite often
dramatic improvement these procedures provide.
